Drumlanrig Castle - Drumlanrig Castle, ancient Douglas stronghold and Dumfriesshire home of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, KT.

Wanlockhead - (A scenic 10 miles away). The highest village in Scotland also home to a mining museum.

Ellisland Farm - Where Robert Burns lived in his later years and wrote some of his most famous poems.

Moniaive - An attractive village with 3 beautiful neighbouring glens : Scaur, Shinnel and Dalwhat.
